Info for Sellers

vintage kimono pattern Vintage sewing pattern sellers are welcome to participate in all Pattern Rescue services on the same terms as everyone else -- and we hope you'll actively support our goals.

Even if you don't use our services, we may be in touch now and again while trying to track down a pattern or replacement pieces for one of our members.

We provide an acknowledgement links to your site whenever you supply a pattern piece requested on the Post or Preserve pages. You may also end up with a link if someone is looking for a pattern to buy that is available at your site.

Interested in advertising? You can get your logo on our links page if you add a link to Pattern Rescue on your site. (See our Links page for more info.) We are also starting a partners program with select sellers in March 2009. If you're interested in becoming a partner for a couple of weeks, please email us.

Wondering how to get the "good stuff"? Yes, you can turn your bits and pieces and unwanted patterns into things you can sell. Here's a quick summary of the things that come up most frequently from sellers about earning pattern points and getting great patterns in return:

  • You get pattern points for all donations (patterns or pin money), and can trade in those points for patterns listed in the Trade area. (Recycle area patterns do not require points.)

  • Most patterns from the 1950s and earlier go into the Trade area (along with later evening, lingerie and apron patterns). They earn anywhere from 5 to 50 pattern points each if complete or unused. Incomplete patterns earn 1 point right away. If we can fix up the pattern, you'll have a choice of (a) getting the pattern back; or (b) letting it go into the Trade area and getting additional pattern points.

  • Most patterns from the 1960s and later go into the Recycle area and earn 1/10 of a pattern point (if factory folded) or 1/25 of a pattern point (if used). Incomplete Recycle patterns earn 1/50 of a point. But as a courtesy, we generally make sure you get enough points to cover your postage cost.

  • Loose tissue pieces, empty envelopes, blank tissue and such are also welcome and will probably earn modest points.

  • Trade pattern pages are updated whenever. The 1940s/1950s patterns disappear almost immediately and we try to keep the pages cleaned up -- so there may not be much there one day, but lots and lots available the next.

Thanks -- and enjoy!
