A new Special Collection posted at noon (Eastern Time) on Sunday, February 28, 2010.
There are still about a hundred patterns left...

Collectible vintage sewing patterns -- and exceptional modern patterns -- get donated, too. Here's where you can redeem the Pattern Points earned for your donations (of pin money, needed pieces, or unwanted patterns) for a special sewing pattern or two you'll treasure for years to come. Read How It Works below, then use the page links above to see what's available today. See something you like? Come back here and use the form below to submit your request.

Special Collection debuted in 2009 and showcases a variety of sewing patterns on its own pages. Each Special Collection has unique terms and a separate request form. The link above take you to its main page, and from there you can get to the patterns.

How it works

Members who've earned Pattern Points (and are up-to-date on Pin Money fund donations) can trade them in for collectible vintage sewing patterns listed in this area. Each pattern is assigned a Pattern Points value from 5 to 50 and those points are deducted from your balance when the trade is made.

Submit your request for regular Trade patterns (but not Special Collection patterns) using the Trade Request Form on this page.
Be sure you have enough Pattern Points on hand, because we cannot hold patterns.

If you need more points, you can get them immediately by making an equivalent donation to the Pin Money fund (there's an express donation box below) but read the Important Notice first.

There is a limit of 5 patterns traded for per day. But if you definitely want more than 5 patterns, go ahead and submit more than one request in any given day. Your requests will be kept together and processed over several days. (We set aside the first available 5 on day one, then check for the next five on day two, and so on.)

Sounds a lot more complicated than it is :-) This just ensures that no one wipes out the entire Trade area in one day...

Use the emergency alternates box on the request form to tell us about patterns you want only if your first choices are gone. (We ignore any emergency alternates if you get your regular choices.)

Trade requests are processed the day after they're received, starting with whoever has the most Pattern Points. (Ties are broken by time submitted.) We'll be in touch right away if there's a problem or question. Otherwise, you'll get an email when your patterns are shipped.

Patterns are shipped postpaid via first class mail to U.S. addresses and first class international everywhere else. We'll combine them with Recycle patterns whenever possible, but if your Trade patterns are shipped separately, you will need to make a donation to the Pin Money fund in an amount at least equal to the shipping before you can get more patterns.

Important Notice

Having enough Pattern Points on hand when you submit your trade request doesn't guarantee that you'll be able to get the pattern you want right now. It may be gone already, or someone with higher priority may have requested it too.

Donations are not returnable or refundable. Donate your patterns (or make an equivalent donation to the Pin Money fund) because you believe in preserving and restoring vintage patterns. Donate if you want access to the Trade patterns and are comfortable that one or two you want will come along eventually -- even if you don't get the one you'd like right now.

Express donation

Enter the amount you want to donate, then click the yellow button. All our online donations are processed through PayPal's secure server (but you do not need a PayPal account).
